Biography

Eric advises a wide range of clients on both business and personal matters. He assists his clients in achieving their goals and solving their problems by combining his legal experience, negotiating skills and practical approach.

For his business clients, Eric is involved in recommending and implementing business structures, the preparation of shareholder and partnership agreements, the acquisition and sale of businesses, undertaking corporate reorganizations, business succession and tax planning, the purchase, sale and development of residential and commercial real estate, commercial leases and business agreements.

Eric advises individuals on residential real estate matters, wills, estates and estate planning including the establishment of complex trusts, probate and the administration of estates.

Eric was born and raised in British Columbia. Eric resides with his family in Richmond, B.C.

Representative Work
  • Acting for multi-generation family business in tax and succession planning. This involved recommending and implementing a plan to allow for the transition of the family business to the next generation without family conflict and in a tax efficient manner.
  • Acting for significant, multi-national distribution company advising them in with respect to their contracts with suppliers and customers in order to reduce financial exposure and standardize terms and conditions.
  • Acting for an executor with respect to an estate with assets and liabilities in multiple jurisdictions including obtaining probate, advising executor with respect to his rights and obligations, attending to the realizations of assets, the distribution of the estate and accounting to the beneficiaries.
  • Acting for a professional in the establishment of a professional corporation, the creation of a family trust to permit income splitting, the incorporation of a holding company to defer taxes and the preparation of a shareholders’ agreement to define the relationship among the client and other professionals involved in the business.
  • Acting for purchaser with respect to the acquisition of significant commercial real estate including investigating title to the property, negotiating the terms of purchase and sale, drafting the purchase agreement and attending to the transfer of title.
  • Acting for a couple in the preparation of complex Wills to create spousal and testamentary trusts to address second marriage of both individuals, special needs children, tax planning and multi-jurisdictions assets.
